I met Molly’s family last year when I photographed her brother’s wedding and we just recently met up to shoot some family photos of her two cherubic toddlers. I started out by asking little Grayson to give her brother a hug and instead she ran up to me and gave me a giant hug. Molly’s sister in law was snapping away with me and she got a great shot. I had a really hard time taking pictures after that because I was totally distracted trying to figure out how to take her home with me without anybody noticing. So. Stinking. Cute.

Anna and Chett had a beautiful wedding last weekend at the Carolina Yacht Club, so I’m happy to finally post some of Anna’s portraits from February. It’s hard for me to keep anything under wraps for too long, especially a portrait session at Lowndes Grove! I loved Anna’s long veil, she looked so elegant and and I’m all about the V neck gown this season, too.

Kathryn + Cal

No amount of rain was going to hamper Kathryn and Cal’s downtown engagement session earlier this month. A huge thank you to everybody at Patrick Properties for opening the doors at the fabulous William Aiken House, and thank goodness I always have three huge umbrellas in my car at all times. Also, a bright orange rain coat can come in pretty handy, too!

Sara + Barnwell

Sara is a dear, old friend that I’ve known since I moved to Charleston and I never once saw her wear lipstick and heels until we did her bridal portrait this winter. Her wedding to Barnwell was very much like her personality: laid back, sincere, and full of laughter.

If you haven’t been to Citrus on East Bay Street yet you’re missing out. I’m lucky enough to live around the corner from Jon Anderson’s yummy spot and nothing is easier than popping by his place at 6pm to pick up short ribs and roasted veggies after a busy day. If you’re in search of a personal chef he’s your man, and he also serves up lunch and a mean brownie if you need some sweets for your Valentine. Keep an eye out for his new website, we took a few pictures for it last week!

Catching up with Jane and Glenn

There are few things that I enjoy more than hearing from former brides who want me to photograph their new and growing families. I recently got to catch up with a couple who just moved back to the Charleston area after getting married here 8 years ago. Here are Jane and Glenn in 2003:

Their two dogs stayed at home enjoying some quiet time so the five Stiegmans and I ran around their neighborhood on a sunny but brisk afternoon. I had a blast chasing the kids through the playground and around the lake. And don’t worry, no children were harmed during the shoot, little Davis is only PRETENDING to knock his brother in the face on the swings…

The Big Apple

Last weekend I left the babies at home for three nights to spend some time in the city. I was staring so much at other people’s children they probably thought I was a pedophile but I just missed the boys so much I couldn’t help myself. In spite of feeling like I was traveling without my right hand, Marc and I had a great trip, we explored some new places, ate (way too much) fabulous food and caught up with old friends. The weather was fantastic and I shot a pile of film for a new project. And for once, I was finally on the side of the airplane with the good view.

Meet baby Finn

Finn is a jolly 4 month old that has the kind of belly you could just bury your face in. His huge, expressive eyes had me captivated and he stole my heart the moment I turned my lens on him!
