Joe and Jenna

Call me biased but I think Joe and Jenna Semsar look pretty adorable in the current issue of Charleston Magazine. Loved seeing their smiling faces in the announcements this month!

After ten years of marriage, Mandy and Chas Welch renewed their vows with their two sweet children by their sides at the William Aiken House. Their beautiful ceremony, designed by Gathering Events, is featured in the current issue of Charleston Weddings Magazine. Mike and Emilee in Garden and Gun

These two hold a special place in my heart. Seven years ago, Marc and I had our wedding reception at Mike’s amazing restaurant, FIG. We had our first date there, had dinner there moments after we got engaged, and pretty much ate there so often we joked that it was our dining room across the street. Emilee had just started waiting tables there and they didn’t want a rookie on the job so she didn’t work our wedding. Apparently Mike had far bigger plans for her, anyways. I was honored to photograph their Boone Hall Plantation wedding and all of it’s stunning details from Heather at Gathering Events. And fittingly, you can see some of the pictures in the August Food issue of Garden and Gun magazine, along with Caterer Callie White’s killer Crab Hush Puppie recipe. Many thanks to Alice Keeney for 2nd shooting.

PDN Top Knots Winners Gallery

Photo District News was the first photo magazine I subscribed to back in graduate school. It’s the best and most reliable source for industry news and it covers all types of photography, from commercial, fine art and editorial to photojournalism and documentary work. They have an annual “Top Knots” contest for wedding photography and I’m honored and thrilled to have one of my images included in the magazine this year. It was taken from a bridal portrait at Lowndes Grove and it was a runner up in the “details” category. The entire winners gallery can be seen on PDN’s website here. I love the movement and emotion in the grand prize winner’s shot!

Settings: The Local Palate

It’s always a treat to work with wedding designers on an editorial project. Especially when it involves Ellen Robinson from WED and her sweet Jack Russell, Cooper! Cooper was nearby during every shot and she makes her modeling debut in the magazine. Lounging behind the bar, naturally.

Gillian + John

I’m so thrilled to see Gillian and John’s elegant Cherokee Plantation wedding featured on the Brides blog today. The details, the couple and the setting could not have been more special, but my favorite shot is of the bride and groom dashing into the reception tent under umbrellas during an unexpected rain shower. Nothing could spoil this day and the couple made the most out of every minute. Click here for the full post and all of the great details from the incredible team at WED!

Springtime brunch at Zero George

I had the distinct pleasure of photographing an Easton Events designed spread for The Local Palate Magazine over at Zero George earlier this year. I live around the corner from the building and I’ve been following the incredibly involved renovation over the past several months. The transformation from the Old Maison Dupree is stunning and my first peek inside did not disappoint! As beautiful as it was, the Inn was still a work in progress when we did the shoot. Seeing it now furnished and fully landscaped makes me want to sneak away from the chaos in my house for a quiet night of indulgence. Here’s a peek at the article and a few of my favorite details.

How wedding planners lunch

The uber talented Calder Clark hosted lunch for the Charleston Area Wedding Planners Association at Harborside East a few months ago. My set shots from the event are featured in the current issue of Charleston Weddings Magazine. I was completely swept of my feet by Anne Girault’s beautiful cake, the delicate flowers that top it are hand crafted sugar paste!

Charleston Weddings Winter 2011

Be Smitten

The amazing team behind The Wedding Row has created more wedding candy goodness. (Or is it crack, I’m addicted!) Smitten, the Look Book of Wedding Fancy, is an e-glossy that launched last week. Grab a glass of bubbly and give yourself a solid chunk of time to indulge, it’s worth it! I’m honored to be included in the first issue. Lauren and Chad’s Middleton Place Plantation wedding is featured along with some of Sara York Grimshaw’s fabulous floral creations that I was lucky enough to have photographed.

Do yourself a favor and check it out! Smitten is DELISH.

Chris and Ashley in Charleston Weddings

Chris and Ashley Dorsey’s beautiful Lowndes Grove wedding is featured in the latest issue of Charleston Weddings alongside so many other gorgeous pages of wedding inspiration. Kristin Newman and Heather Barrie teamed up for this stunner and I love the vibrant palate of pinks, oranges and yellows, perfect for a summer day on the water!

From the brilliant minds at The Knot!

This week marks the end of engagement season, and the editors at The Knot have a couple of great tools for those of you now planning (or helping a friend plan) a wedding! I’m also thrilled to have some of my photographs included in these great publications, they’ve been in the works for such a long time it’s nice to revisit some of my favorite weddings that date back a few years. The Wedding Planner in a Box has cute flash cards you can stash in your bag and bring along when you meet with your vendors, and goes over everything from day-of emergency kits to what to tip your musicians. And the beautiful, photo filled Ultimate Wedding Lookbook is chock full of wedding inspiration goodness. I have been swooning over cakes and admiring the adventurous color palates all afternoon. Super excited to be a part of it!

A few of my pictures!

And the book:

A few shots from Theresa and Jeff’s beautiful Bray’s Island wedding:

The matchbook favors from Martha Kent and Michael’s sunny waterfront wedding are included alongside some other yellow goodies:

I’m loving on the turquoise and fire engine red palate, too. It features Alisa and Mike’s whimsical cake from their Charlestowne Landing wedding.

Happy planning!

Kirsten and Paul in the Knot Weddings Magazine!

Kirsten Hocker and Paul Mason had a spectacular wedding last October at Lowndes Grove Plantation. Once again, the ladies at WED teamed up with Dahlia Designs and knocked it out of the park with a beautiful tent filled with fall-hued sprays of yellow, orange, green and brown. Their colorful wedding is featured in the current Fall issue of The Knot Weddings Magazine! Congratulations Kirsten and Paul!

And I can’t resist throwing in a few more of my favorites…

Congratulations again to the happy couple!

Martha Kent and Michael

Martha Kent and Michael were married in the fall of 2008 and had a beautifully bright and cheery yellow-hued reception at Lowndes Grove. Ooh Events did the design and set up cushy yellow lounges where guests enjoyed an amazing sunset and hand rolled cigars. Their wedding is in the current issue of Charleston Weddings Magazine.
Their wedding colors sparked my obsession with bright shoes. Martha Kent’s maids wore highlighter yellow strappy sandals that really popped against the green grass. Congratulations Martha Kent and Michael!

Four Legged and Frosty

This Thursday morning I trekked out to Awendaw to photograph Robin and Doug Smith for Skirt! Magazine. They’re being featured in the February issue which is all amazing couples. It was one of the coldest mornings we’ve had in ages and as I got further out into the country it started to look more and more like winter and the temperature reading on my car kept dropping till it bottomed out at 27 degrees. We did the shoot outside and as cold as it was I had a hard time getting back in my car and leaving their family and all their sweet, furry friends behind.

Kate and Ben in Modern Bride

Kate Brockhouse and Ben Pittard were married in September 2008 at Kate’s childhood home on the water in Charleston. Their fabulous wedding is published in this month’s issue of Modern Bride Magazine, which also, very sadly, happens to be the final issue of the magazine.

I’ve used this shot for ads all year, I absolutely love her gown, too!
The wedding was gorgeous and their first dance (Super Freak!) is still one of my favorites. It will be hard to top. Congratulations Kate and Ben!
